feed your faith

Apostle NKURUNZIZA François

Haggai1:5-6; “ Now therefore, thus says the LORD of hosts: “Consider your ways! “You have sown much, and bring in little; you eat, but do not have enough; you drink, but you are not filled with drink; you clothe yourselves, but no one is warm; and he who earns wages, earns wages to put into a bag with holes.”

The context of the book of Haggai lies in the history of the Israelites’ return from exile in Babylon. After they had settles in their country; they first initiative was to build the House of God, but these activities were halted for about sixteen years due to a royal decree from the King of Persia, Artaxerxes who was misled by the enemies of the people of Israel that they were plotting to rebel against him, this become an excuse to no longer keep up with their service to God’s temple and each one of them started building their own lives, but as we have read in the previous verse; the fruits of their labour were not matching the efforts they were investing.

There will always be excuses for us not to serve God but we must know that turning our backs from God’s calling only leads to failure because, our blessing as God’s children lies in our service to Him.

Haggai 1:7-9 “Thus says the LORD of hosts: “Consider your ways! Go up to the mountains and bring wood and build the temple, that I may take pleasure in it and be glorified,” says the LORD. “You looked for much, but indeed it came to little; and when you brought it home, I blew it away. Why?” says the LORD of hosts. “Because of My house that is in ruins, while every one of you runs to his own house.

The book of Haggai compels us today because God’s principles are eternal, they still apply even to us today. Most of us claim to be successful in their lives, but this is mainly because we see ourselves in the eyes of man but not in the eyes of God, we compare ourselves to those around us, not according to God’s covenant and we are content with only crumbs instead of His fullness. God is calling us to stand up and build His house, His church, this is from where we will experience enlargement in our lives for the glory of His kingdom.

Haggai 2:6 -8 “For thus says the LORD of hosts: ‘Once more (it is a little while) I will shake heaven and earth, the sea and dry land; and I will shake all nations, and they shall come to the Desire of All Nations and I will fill this temple with glory,’ says the LORD of hosts. ‘The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine,’ says the LORD of hosts.

If we stand up to build His house, God will also stand up to shake first the heavens, not including the heaven in which He dwells but the heavens where the principalities of the kingdom of darkness mentioned in Ephesians 6:12 dwell, holding back our breakthrough.

God will bring the treasures of nations to us, because we have been called to His service for the advancement of His Kingdom. This is our time to defy all the odds, to challenge the world in the midst of unceasing financial crisis by the promise of financial enlargement we have received from the Lord, because He has shaken the heavens and the earth for our sake and the devil is under our feet.

Luke 10:18-19 “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”
